This Artist Studio Expansion transforms an existing one-story garage art studio into a two-story creative space. The studio is meticulously designed to match the mid-century modern main residence, a kit house from the Acorn Deck House Company. Serving as a dedicated space for artistic pursuits, the ground floor functions as a printmaking studio, complete with a newly added bathroom, a wash sink, and an art display window facing the driveway. An internal spiral staircase provides an elegant and space-efficient connection to the newly added second floor, which houses a library and figure drawing area.

The design prioritizes natural light, utilizing an expansive glass wall to illuminate the space and blur the lines with the surrounding woods. Inside, striking vaulted wood ceilings with exposed beams directly mirror the architectural warmth and style of the main house. The dark gray exterior features warm wood accents and integrates an outdoor "stadium stair" and planter system that gracefully negotiates the site's topography. Finally, the “waffle door” entrance was made to match the door to the main house, tying everything together beautifully.
