THE JOINERY PHASE 2 NOMINATED FOR CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL'S HEAVY HITTERS AWARD
Join us in celebrating the super cool news that one of our biggest projects, The Joinery Phase 2 in Optimist Park, is nominated for a Charlotte Business Journal Heavy Hitters award in the Top Mixed-Use Development category. The awards will be announced at a dinner on October 29, and we're looking forward to celebrating our hard work and the other notable projects in Charlotte.
For The Joinery Phase 2, Cluck took a significant amount of care to make this a truly kick ass project with a focus on sustainability. Most notably, the use of cross-laminated timber (CLT) promised a solution that is better than steel, with engineered wood that looks good, sequesters carbon, and is installed in a shorter time. While the structural system came at a slight premium, it also allowed us to reduce the overall height and volume of the building by five feet (one foot per upper five floors), which resulted in construction cost savings for the client.
The walkable, small-scale retail on the ground floor evokes major metropolitan vibes, as if every twenty feet there is something new to look at. We wanted this project to feel like all the best parts of New York, Paris, Copenhagen, and more.
Urban Design consultant Gehl focused on bringing nature to the forefront with the incorporation of different types of flora and fauna. With these details, as well as electric car shares, solar panels, and thoughtful amenities, The Joinery Phase 2 offers a modern living experience that shows that better is not always more expensive. The property is owned by Space Craft.
