E.L.K (Eggs, Legs, and Kegs) is a 1,431 sq. ft. restaurant in Monroe, serving deviled eggs, chicken legs, and beer. The restaurant, whose name also stands for "Eat Like a King," caters to both a daytime grab-and-go lunch crowd and a sit-down dinner service. The building is a former service station turned trophy store, and has been revitalized with crisp white painted brick and a bright yellow base trim.
The interior features a rustic, woodland theme with wood-paneled walls and plaid wallcoverings. The bar is detailed with stacked wood rounds and vibrant yellow tufted barstools. A bright neon sign of an elk drinking a beer is a focal point. Pendant glass lighting and exposed piping create an industrial-yet-cozy aesthetic.
The exterior includes an inviting patio with large, black pergola-style canopies over wood-slatted dining and cushioned lounge seating. Large glass openings connect the interior and patio. The building features a prominent black-and-white "E.L.K" sign above the entrance, and a massive, realistic mural of an elk in a mountainous forest spans the adjacent brick wall, providing a dramatic backdrop for outdoor dining. Both the exterior and interior mural were completed by David Merck.
