Located on the ground floor of the Linea Building in Charlotte's South End, Half Shell Raw Bar is a 3,212-square-foot upfit designed to deliver a warm, comfortable, and lively raw bar experience. The design avoids nautical clichés while connecting to the sea through a curated "patina" theme. Cluck used aged wood paneling, rusted metal accents, and a custom terrazzo seashell counter to nod towards the natural wear of the ocean.
The focal point of the interior design is a large U-shaped main bar. This piece features a wood countertop, a button-tufted front, and a super cool mosaic fish scale tile back bar. The space is softened with warm nautical rope archway curtains, braided wicker pendant lighting, and slatted wood ceilings. We prioritized intimate banquette dining along with a dedicated raw bar, where the fresh seafood is the star. A 1,000-square-foot exterior patio, equipped with overhead heaters, extends the atmosphere outdoors for year-round enjoyment.
