Resident Culture – Bland Street

Charlotte, NC

2025 AIA Charlotte Citation Award

The upfit of this 17,000 square foot bus maintenance garage--turned-brewery is a super cool and unique undertaking. We worked closely with local artist, Resident Culture graphic designer, and musician Maryssa Pickett, using their iconic beercan artwork to inspire the look of each room.

From the enormous skylights and suspended flora, to the disco ball bathroom hall, to the massive Lightning Drops sculpture (an homage to one of their most popular beers), we took every opportunity to kick the design up a notch. And don’t forget to look up: the DJ booth above the bar is one of our favorite details.

Keeping the skylights in the Country Kind dining room was integral to the overall feel of this space, along with the addition of new powder-coated steel planters that surround them. This bright, flora-filled room is the perfect place to share a beer with friends, or to try the offerings from Resident Culture’s coffee concept, Killer Coffee.
