Cluck Furniture

Our modular desks are a case study in sustainable furniture fabrication. These pieces are composed of FSC certified, formaldehyde-free MDF (medium density fiberboard), a 100% by-product material, and the design itself is intended to maximize a standard 4’x8' sheet. We began by developing our design concept with a 3 dimensional computer modeling program, resolving the assembly strategies and formal nuances in a completely virtual setting. Once our digital 3-D prototype was complete, we translated CAD files to a CNC (computer numeric control)  router which cut the blank material sheets into the desk’s various planes. Each component was labeled using an alphanumeric system, making assembly a logical sequence that could be completed on site. We feel this is an exciting way to explore the potentials of technology and manufacturing in an affordable and eco-friendly manner.
